Our lease is up June 1st, and this week I've taken on the project of finding our next home sweet home. I thought I had it all figured out... I found a little neighborhood called Bayview just south of downtown Milwaukee. It reminded me of our home in Piedmont just north of downtown Portland, complete with farmer's markets, nice parks, community centers and just a general homey, yet urban feeling.
But as all of you who know us know, Seth LOVES to golf. If I could do more than capitalize LOVE I would... cause that is sort of an understatement. He researched all the courses in the Milwaukee area, and found the best one (quality/value) and joined for the year. It happens to be half hour outside town. Seth assured me he has no problem commuting from the course to Bayview everyday, but it seems like such a waste of time...
So, I've been trying to weigh the benefits and drawbacks of living in the country vs in the city. Do we live in the neighborhood we prefer and deal with a commute, or move as close to the course as possible even if we don't love the location. I've been pretty torn for the last week or so, but today I think I finally got some clarity.
As great as Bayview is, it is the easy option. The familiar and known. And I kind of like the idea of doing something completely different and outside my comfort zone. And what could be more outside my comfort zone than moving to the suburbs/country?!? :)
Plus, Sal loves going to the golf course with Seth and if we lived so far away it would rarely happen. This afternoon we all spent a couple hours on the golf course together and had so much fun. Decision made.
I'm looking forward to it. Who knows, maybe I'll be converted from my city-girl ways and want to stay forever.
